Backcountry Kitchen was founded by
Johanna Mickle.

Johanna grew up in the Canadian Rocky Mountain National Parks, where she developed an early appreciation for nature.
She has spent much of her life combining the outdoors with cooking as a hiking and mountain biking guide, backcountry lodge chef, cook for athletes at a glacier training camp and a teen expedition leader, backcountry ration planner
and food and kitchen
coordinator for the
High Mountain Institute in Colorado.
Johanna is a Certified Natural Chef Graduate of Bauman College in Boulder Colorado. Bauman College is a Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts School with an emphasis on whole, organic and natural foods.
